Agreement to Terms:

Community in Action (“Community in Action”, “CiA”, “we”, or “us”), allows you to access and use this site (the “Site”) subject to these terms of use (the “Terms”). By using this site, you agree to comply with these terms.

Our promise :

At Community in Action (CiA), we uphold the standard for privacy protection. We value the relationship we have with our students, partner organizations, volunteers, and staff, and are committed to protecting your personal information from the time you share it with us. Information we have about you is password protected and secure.

Non-discrimination:

Community in Action does not and will not discriminate on the basis of race, color, sex, sexual orientation, gender expression, gender identity, religion, disability, age, veteran status, ancestry, or national or ethnic origin.

Privacy:

Community in Action is the owner of the information collected on this site. We only have access to collect information that you voluntarily give us via email or other direct contact from you. We will not provide this information to anyone without your consent.

Information you give us will be used to respond to you, regarding the reason you contacted us. We will not share your information with any third party outside of our organization, other than as necessary to fulfill your request. (For example, giving your contact information to a partner organization where you would like to volunteer.) Furthermore, we will only share an enrolled volunteer’s name and contact information with fellow volunteers, with both of the volunteer’s consent.

We maintain an internal email list of all persons who have requested information, enrolled in our programs, made an online payment, or made an online donation. This list is for internal use only and will not be exchanged with any other organization, sold, or rented. Unless you ask us not to, we may contact you via email in the future to tell you about CiA status updates (newsletters with information on new volunteer opportunities, projects or services, invitations, etc). In the future, we may also ask if you’d like to receive information from our partners or support our development efforts.

We collect personal and contact information of visitors who submit their information for volunteer placement or for donations. Personal information of enrolled volunteers is kept in a password protected file and is only shared with our partner organizations to assist in the volunteer placement process. Under no circumstances will we share any personal information about our prospective volunteers, former volunteers, sponsors of volunteers, or donors with anyone external to CiA without their knowledge and/or permission, unless required by law.

Accessing your personal information:

You may opt out of any future contacts from us at any time. You can request via email to have information on what data we have about you and correct this data if necessary. We take reasonable steps to ensure that the information we hold about you is accurate when we use it. You should contact us if you think your personal information may be incorrect or if any important updates need to be made.

Security:

All donations will be directed to programs that are best managed, most efficient, and most effective at helping people become and remain self-sufficient. Information you supply to make a donation or pay the program fee is submitted to a trusted third party for processing. Sensitive information such as a credit card data is encrypted and transmitted to us in a secure way. We do not save credit card information and we do not have access to your credit card number.

Our use of cookies:

Cookies are small files that websites save to your hard disk or to your browser’s memory. Our website may use them to track the number of times you have visited the website and to track the number of visitors to the website. Most Internet browsers automatically accept cookies. If you do not want us to use cookies in your browser, you can alter your browser settings to reject cookies or send an alert when a website tries to insert cookies on your computer.

Changes to this policy:

Community in Action reserves the right to review and update this privacy policy at any time. If we decide to change our Privacy Policy, we will post those changes to this Privacy Policy page and any other places we deem appropriate. Your privacy is extremely important to us and we take all measures to protect it. Please contact us directly with any questions.
